I was just going through some photos and found this shot I took of one of Hakan Norling’s superb Templedogs that was sent in to the T&S office at one point a few years back by Matt Hayes. Imagine the water at +2 inches on the gauge and clearing on one of the Solway rivers, say, in October and swimming that on a sink-tip line through the tail of a pool flecked with fallen leaves and the glow of the late afternoon sun.
Then try imagining not getting a take from a late-running salmon on this beauty. You can’t can you? I can’t: it would just have to get you a fish.
Leaving only the question: why can’t I tie flies like that?
