Salmon and snowmobiles pass this way

Fishing friend Christopher, putting the finishing touches to his fishing camp on the world famous River Miramichi set in wild salmon country on Canada’s eastern seaboard, sent me this New Brunswick white-out scene today.

Taken as he went out to oversee the building work on the ground level of his house (pictured above) last week it shows his Harkom pool (one of four main river pools he has) marked by snowmobile tracks. But under the ice – as they did last September when I visited the fishing – the salmon will pass in their thousands.

It’s a lot warmer in September (21-28th) when we’ll have use for the finer things in life such as this barbecue, so let me know if you’d like a crack at the famous runs of Miramichi salmon.

And finally, Bruce the Moose is a local character on the S.W. Miramichi. If you come with me in September it’s moose hunting season for 2 days only, hence the orange cape
