Norway season is building up nicely for the second half

The latest from the Norwegian Flyfishers Club shows there is still a need for Gaula 2013  sport to get into its higher gears but all the signs are my hosted week of August 4-11 could be a good one.

We are only a small group so far but if you would like to join us at least 3 spaces remain. I will arrange all aspects of car hire and flights should you wish and the cost of fishing and accommodation comes in at euros 1,810.

Meanwhile some very decent salmon have being caught by NFC guests in the last few days. A 27 pounder to Margaret Yorke from beat BS1 and a lovely medium sized fish for first time visitor Mike Howells from the Bridge pool.

Stop press! News of a super-looking salmon for NFC owner/ chairman Per Arneberg from Bogen Sondre just an hour before the end of June. Congrats!

NFC report:
Following the flood this past week, we had expected a boost in the fishing as new fish enter into the river system, but the fishing did not picked up the way we had hoped. But this is not just on our beats, the fishing on the whole river as well as on neighbouring rivers (and actually in many rivers throughout Norway) has not been good. But the test-net used for tagging fish to track them, done by NINA (Norsk Institut for Naturforskning) in the outer fjord areas had a good number of fish caught lately. But it seems as though the salmon are staying in the sea and are still not entering the rivers in very big number for some reason. But it seems as though the number of medium-sized fish as well as grilse are improving.
