So here it is, a shot I took while fishing the Norwegian Flyfishers Club’s D2 beat earlier this month.
On the way out there I met NFC regular Karsten Kruhl, who I first met on the Gaula with his brother at the end of last season, at Bergen airport. Karsten caught a nice 20lb-odd salmon in this pool in early July this year.
As you can see it is beautiful deep fly water (this is looking upstream, the downstream view shows the fishing even better, I’ll try and post that one too), with some of the biggest Gaula boulders I’ve seen, and deep swirling lies for salmon in water the colour of a Fox’s Glacier Mint (for those who remember this Seventies confectionery staple of long car journeys).
Anyway tight lines to the team out there for the last 2 days – I wudda liked to be there as I was last year – with Karsten and bro.
