Writing Version Two

Heart and soul. Practice and emotional intelligence. Passion and life (the meaning of, the living of, right here right now [these days], the union, the yoga, the [personal] mantra). Joy of fishing, of life, of writing. Some theoretical writing and ‘how to’ – but more about reliving of profound moments and the Holy Grail or epiphany of enlightenment fuelled by wild nature and reconnection with our hunter gatherer past. Picking wild raspberries in Norwegian riparian woods – selecting crimson berries like a salmon takes a Calvin shrimp from the underwater flow.
Creativity and dopamine – a heady mix. The importance of keeping a clear head while acknowledging and accepting the burr of creative flight as the reel screams and cognition takes a back seat.
Deciding to be happy, shutting out [some of] the noise and finding peace.
Friendship, fellowship and camaraderie. Recognising it when it happens and nurturing it via fabricated fishing trips, if you like.
Excitement of the hunter in wild northern lands. Visceral connection of angst ridden emotional human condition via episodes of white hot excitement and wild life force (chi and prana) shared between species, and…
And? Celebrating the perfect lines of a paragon of magical beauty fresh off the tide.

The opposite of low mood and the opposite of quotidan footfall, do you get this?
Hopefully your life does not suffer such things.
And whether or not it does, this is an SPLD iteration transformed, energised and powered up.

These are a few thoughts.

Have a good summer, everyone.

My second book, The Secret Life of Salmon is pre-orderable from Amazon HERE.

  • The top left underwater salmon photograph above is by Daniel Göz and is a still of a scene in the 2011 movie, Gaula River of Silver & Gold (G+K Film), that he made with Anton Hamacher. Actually it’s my fish/me holding it (and releasing it in the scene). Me holding on to the past, to continue my whimsy.
  • The top right photograph shows wild fishing conditions that followed a big storm a couple of years ago on the South-west Miramichi (Brad Burns).

    1. Quite a lot of coffee? Thanks so much – you’ll see I’ve had a look in your ‘Cave’ – it’s an interesting place. I like your world map.
